PORT CHESTER - A fundraiser was held today for the two Port Chester families who lost their loved ones in the deadly Sprain Brook Parkway accident on Labor Day weekend.

Fernanda Gomez, 19, and her best friend Juliana Restrepo, 18, both of Port Chester, were killed along with two other friends when their rented car jumped the median and slammed into the Underhill Road overpass in Greenburgh, then burst into flames. The two other victims were from Connecticut.

A fundraiser cookout today at Lyon Park that was organized by a childhood friend of Gomez hoped to raise $3,000 to help the families with burial costs.

Authorities are still trying to piece together what lead to the violent crash. Police have not yet released the autopsy results, and toxicology results are expected soon.
