Funeral service held today for Angelie Paredes, baby killed in West New York bus crash

Police say Angelie Paredes died after a bus crashed into a lamppost that fell on her stroller.

NORTH BERGEN - Funeral services were held today for an infant killed last week when an out-of-control bus knocked over a light pole, which then fell into her stroller.

Hundreds gathered at the Vainieri Funeral Home in North Bergen to remember 8-month-old Angelie Paredes. She will be laid to rest at a cemetery in Fair Lawn.

The child was killed and seven others injured Tuesday when the bus veered off a West New York street, hitting the pole that fell on the stroller. It then struck a tree, another pole and a parked car that then struck three other vehicles.

The bus driver, Idowu Daramola, is being held on $250,000 bail. He faces charges of death by auto, reckless driving and using a cellphone while operating a vehicle.
