'Giving Tuesday' campaign hopes to create day of service

GREENWICH - The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is known to many nonprofit organizations as "Giving Tuesday."

The movement, started in 2012, aims to create a national day of giving at the start of the holiday season.

In Connecticut, 130 organizations signed up to participate this year in the growing campaign.

Family Centers in Greenwich joined the movement to help struggling families. It held a special fundraiser to provide pre-school scholarships to local kids in need.
