WAYNE - The first New Jersey gubernatorial debate was held Tuesday night at William Paterson University in Wayne.
Gov. Chris Christie faced Democratic opponent state Sen. Barbara Buono in the first of several debates.
Both candidates spoke about major issues including the economy and social policy such as same-sex marriage.
However, it wasn't long before the inevitable question regarding Christie's presidential intentions was asked. In response, Christie said, "The fact is that after 2017 I'll be looking for a new job anyway. So as we go forward I'm gonna continue to do my job the best I possibly can. And I am not gonna declare tonight."
The next debate is scheduled for Oct. 15.
