A Mahopac man was charged Monday with animal cruelty after shooting a Canada goose by the shore of Lake Ossi, Putnam County authorities said.

Gregory Stefkovic, 44, was charged by officers with the county's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals after he was allegedly seen by a local resident shooting the bird dead Monday and leaving its body by the shoreline.
