Watermelon Martini
Where: Amici Italian Grill, 280 Main Street, Middletown
Ingredients: Skyy Melon Vodka, Stoli Razberi Vodka, DeKuyper Pucker Watermelon, Apple Schnapps, cranberry and lime juice with a sugar coated rim.
Cost: $9 (during happy hour, Mon-Fri, 5-7 p.m., martinis are $8).

Amici's martini list is pretty extensive, so it's really hard to choose. I wanted a little taste of summer so I ordered the Watermelon martini. It's sweet, fruity, chock full of liquor and easy to drink in only a few sips. The only thing missing was a slice of watermelon on the sugared rim.

For martinis in Middletown, Amici Italian Grill is the place to go. Not only are they made well, there's more than 25 different varieties to choose from. One of the most popular martinis, according to wait staff, is the Victoria Secret (most martinis are made with vodka, this one is made with Malibu coconut rum, chambord and other yummy stuff; perfect for summer). Another popular one is the Espresso Martini: espresso, Absolut, coffee and chocolate liquors.

The atmosphere is casual at Amici Italian Grill, jeans are fine, and the crowd is mixed. The restaurant is dimly lit, a nice touch if you're on a romantic date. The bar area is sleek, but small, so if you really want to hang out and chat with friends I'd recommend heading to the dining room to enjoy dinner and a fabulous martini. Amici's also offers al fresco dining (the patio is open now), where it's fun to watch the hustle and bustle on Main Street.
