Hearing adjourned in Rye Brook woman's attack
A court appearance for the contractor's wife charged with sexually assaulting a Rye Brook woman she suspected was carrying on an affair with her husband was adjourned Wednesday until Sept. 26, officials said.
Giovana Osorio of Tuckahoe had been scheduled to appear in Rye Brook Town Court Wednesday to face charges that she entered the woman's house in August and attacked her after rousing her from bed, where she was sleeping with her 4-year-old son.
Outside court after an earlier hearing in August, Osorio denied sexually assaulting the victim.
"Yes, we did fight, I pulled her hair, I hit her," the 40-year-old defendant told reporters. "I lost control in the moment. It was a moment of insanity. I did not sexually assault her. That's a lie."
Osorio also said her husband had been carrying on a relationship with the woman for five years.
She is charged with assault, second-degree burglary and aggravated criminal sexual abuse in connection with the August attack.
Police said Osorio did not know that her husband, Carlos Osorio, had taken a side job in Stamford, Conn., and was at that job the night of the incident.
An order of protection was issued to ensure that Giovana Osorio does not approach the Rye Brook woman or her child.
Calls to Osorio's lawyer were not immediately returned.
