Al Roker: 'I pooped my pants' at White House

Al Roker, "Today" show weatherman and author, is candid about his accident at the White House.

Al Roker's candid nature about his gastric bypass surgery reached a new level Sunday night, when a "Dateline" interview revealed that the "Today" show correspondent and former Yorktown resident couldn't contain himself during a visit to the White House.

"I probably went off and ate something I wasn't supposed to," he told NBC's Dr. Nancy Snyderman. "And, as I'm walking to the press room, I've got to pass a little gas here. So, I'm walking by myself — who's going to know? — only, a little something extra came out."

"You pooped in your pants," said Snyderman, who later classified the incident as a side effect that occurred one month after Roker's 2002 surgery.

"I pooped my pants," he confirmed.

Roker has been silent since this segment aired, but he did make a point on Twitter to bring it to viewers' attention: "Tune [into] Dateline. Now. Please," he tweeted last night. Equally quiet on Twitter were his "Today" show friends Matt Lauer, who grew up in Chappaqua, Ardsley and Hartsdale, and Meredith Vieira, who lives in Irvington.
