An elderly woman managed to pull herself out of her car Sunday after it went over the guardrail of the New York State Thruway in Clarkstown and rolled over, State Police said.

The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, was speaking after the one-car accident and suffered minor injuries, possibly a broken arm, police said.

The woman's Nissan Altima went over the guardrail in the northbound lane of the Thruway near Exit 14 around 1:20 p.m. The car then surmounted a dirt berm and fell into a ditch by the road.

The woman was taken away by paramedics, but State Police didn't immediately have information about where she was being treated. Her car was demolished, they said.
