Throughout Joey Diamond’s childhood, he would come to the Nassau Coliseum to watch the Islanders. Now, as a 23 year-old, he’s still coming to the Coliseum — but now he’s on the ice instead of in the stands. Diamond, a Long Beach native, took to the ice Tuesday for the first day of the 2013 Islanders Mini Camp, his first camp as a member of the organization. Diamond signed a one-year, entry-level...Read more »
The Islanders have not locked up Evgeni Nabokov to return as at least one of their goaltenders for next season, despite both sides being relatively close on a contract. There may be younger, more attractive goaltending options available when free agency begins on July 5, but perhaps the most intriguing goaltender available will be sought after around the day of the June 30 NHL draft. And the Islanders...Read more »
Andrew MacDonald is headed home to Nova Scotia this week, but he'll be back in three weeks to have a metal rod removed from his broken left hand. MacDonald took Douglas Murray's shot off the back of his hand in Game 4, an injury that the Isles had trouble overcoming. "I thought the guys played their hearts out in Game 6," he said. "It was just one of those things."...Read more »

"You had to try and force yourself to stay up for that 10 p.m. West Coast game," he said. "That¹s all there was for us as kids this time of year."...Read more »
Pittsburgh -- Jack Capuano wouldn't say who will play on the top defensive pair with Travis Hamonic in place of Andrew MacDonald, who is out for the remainder of the postseason with a broken hand. That spot most likely will go to either Brian Strait or Mark Streit. If it's Strait, that would be quite a jump from the beginning of this season, when the Isles scooped him off waivers...Read more »
Jack Capuano tossed in a little wrinkle to his usual gameday banter, saying the Islanders “have to play almost a perfect game” to beat the Penguins. “We make one mistake and it’s in the back of our net. They make three or four mistakes and we may still not score,” Capuano said. “I guess I’m not saying perfect, but we have to be close to perfect to be successful.” Capuano may be exaggerating for...Read more »

The game is scheduled for noon and doors will open at 10:30 a.m. The Islanders have advised fans to allow for extra time to get to Nassau Coliseum because of...Read more »
