Italian Heritage Festival in Valhalla
Rome came to Westchester County on Sunday as visitors munched zeppoles, calzones and sausage and peppers at the Italian Heritage Festival at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
The parking lot was jammed for the event, which lasted from noon to 7 p.m. The festival is part of a series of cultural celebrations offered in county parks.
Sunny skies greeted visitors, who were offered T-shirts with messages such as "It's gravy, not sauce!" and "Kiss me, I'm Italian."
Westchester County Parks sponsors the events. Next in the series are Irish and Polish festivals on Sunday, July 15. The Irish festival will run from noon to 7 p.m. at Ridge Road Park in Hartsdale. The Polish festival will be from noon to 6 p.m. at Kensico Dam Plaza.
