YONKERS - Ivy Reeves officially announced her candidacy for Yonkers City Council president this afternoon at the i.Park complex on Nepperhan Avenue.

Reeves says her background as a community activist sets her apart from Mike Rotanelli, who is also running for the Democratic party’s vote.

The winner of the Democratic primary will run against Republican challenger and former council minority leader Liam McLaughlin. He wished Reeves luck in the September election.

Reeves says that creating more jobs and better housing opportunities are at the forefront of her campaign.
