YONKERS - A request to delay former Yonkers City Councilwoman Sandy Annabi's March 4 surrender date has been denied by a judge.
Annabi, along with her political mentor, Zehy Jereis were found guilty in March, in what prosecutors called a scheme to switch her vote on two controversial development projects in Yonkers, including Ridge Hill. The jury agreed with prosecutors that thousands of dollars and other gifts Jereis gave Annabi were in return for her votes.
Annabi continues to maintain her innocence on the corruption, bribery and extortion convictions. Her attorney is confident the verdict will be overturned.
