Kidsday: Using the Draw Something app

Draw Something is a fun app for iPod touches, smartphones and iPads. There are two versions: One is free, and the other is $1.99. Just get the free one to start. You can buy different colors using the coins you win by drawing and guessing words.

Playing against somebody makes this game even better. You might be thinking, how is it fun to play against friends? The answer is: Draw Something is the type of app that asks for your email address or Facebook account. This can sometimes make you feel uncomfortable. If it does, I understand how you feel. You can never be sure what's safe.

This app gives you a tutorial of how to use it when you create an account. When you play, you can just press random and play a random person or search people by user names. Next, you will get a list with three words. You have to draw one. The easy words to draw get you one coin; medium words two coins, and hard words get you three coins. At the bottom of the list of words, there is a button that says bombs. Bombs can be used to switch words if you don't know how to draw them.

After you submit the drawing, you have to wait for your partner to guess your word and then submit a drawing. When it is time to guess the other person's drawing, you have a letter box. They have the letters that are in the word mixed in with other letters.

If you do not know what the word is and you think you have a chance, you can use a bomb. It will get rid of all the other letters and only keep the ones in the word. If you cannot guess the word, you pass. This will end your streak. The streak is how many times you and your partner guess each other's drawings. You can play more than one person at a time.

If you get the game, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
