A winter farmers' market and holiday train and trolley rides are among the events planned in Kingston through December, according to the Business Alliance of Kingston.
The Kingston farmers' winter market opened Saturday, Dec. 1, and will continue on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through April. More than 20 vendors will offer items such as fruits and vegetables, breads and baked goods, honey, farm-fresh dairy products, beer and spirits, pickles, tamales, paella, heirloom seeds and more.
Bring the kids and enjoy holiday trolley rides through Dec. 30.The Catskill Mountain Railroad's 2012 Winter Holiday Train runs Saturdays and Sundays through the end of the month. Trains leave the Westbrook Station at Kingston Plaza at 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. All trains return to the Westbrook Station.
Decorated with lights and ornaments, the trains offer a fun ride with Santa on board -- except on Dec. 29 and 30 (when he gets a well-deserved rest).
Tickets will be available at the station in the Kingston Plaza ballfield parking lot near the Hannaford Supermarket. Rates are $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 2-11 and free for children under 2 years old with a paid adult fare. The trains have open-air seating and limited space inside the refurbished caboose, so riders are advised to dress appropriately and bundle up. Find more information at catskillmtrailroad.com.
