FAIRFIELD - The largest freshman class in Sacred Heart University history spent the day moving into their dorms.

The school says coordinating the arrival of 1,300 freshmen involved extensive planning,including controlling the flow of traffic. University officials say 1,200 of the 1,300 students will live on campus.

Officials say 40 percent of the students arrived early to perform volunteer work in the surrounding communities.

The school is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
