Levy Lassiter, Shaquille Heirs, Jakeem Sylvester charged in Poughkeepsie drug raid
Three men were arrested after a Wednesday raid on a City of Poughkeepsie apartment netted cash, guns and hundreds of packets of heroin police said.
The search warrant followed a two-month investigation by the city police Neighborhood Recovery Unit and Emergency Services Unit, Poughkeepsie city police Sgt. George Camacho said in a statement.
The raid at 35 May St., Apt. 1, turned up 400 bags of heroin, a little bit of marijuana, a loaded .380 handgun, a loaded .22 handgun, a shotgun and $676 in cash, police said. Two vehicles were also seized.
Levy G. Lassiter, 24, who lives at the apartment, was charged with felony drug and gun possession and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Shaquille Heirs, 18, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with felony drug possession and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Jakeem Sylvester, 19, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
All three men were also charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. Police could not be reached late Thursday to explain the details of the charge.
Sylvester was given an appearance ticket to go to Poughkeepsie City Court on May 15. Lassiter and Heirs were held pending arraignment.
No further information on court appearances or the men's legal representation was immediately available Thursday, and Camacho did not immediately return a call for comment.
