CHESTNUT RIDGE - A lice outbreak has been reported at aChestnut Ridge school.

Several cases of lice have been reported at Margetts Elementary School.

Dr. Jan Montague, a pediatrician in Suffern, says it's common for lice to spread among kids in close quarters.

"They share things, they put their heads down at their desk together when they're working on projects," she says. “As adults, we don't tend to get that close to most people and kids just spread it that way."

The district superintendent says a letter alerting parents about the outbreak was sent home last week. Parents have been told to check their kids every two days until no lice is found for 12 consecutive days.
