Wine bars have started to pour generously across Long Island, with a good selection of bottles and food to match. They're casual places to enjoy, whether you're dropping in solo or with a group. Here are three to visit.

THE VINE WINE BAR, Merrick

This contemporary spot is a little beacon on Merrick Road, sleek, contemporary and very appealing. To go with the respectable selection of beverages, try the plates of cheese and cured meats, maybe a panino or two.

BIN 56, Huntington

About the size of a wineglass, Bin 56 fills a cozy niche in downtown Huntington. In addition to the very good choice of wines, sample the tapas-style menu, which includes charcuterie, cheeses, tuna tartare, roasted peppers, olives.

CITY CELLAR WINE BAR & GRILL, Westbury

If they offered more beer, buoyant City Cellar could pass for a brasserie. But it suits imbibers of all drinks, And the kitchen provides some very good fare, from flatbreads and sliders to salads and pastas, plus huskier dishes.
