Tanglewood Preserve

Features: Tanglewood Preserve, an 11-acre preserve with two ponds and 3 buildings that serve as home to the Center for Science Teaching and Learning which offers science and technology programs for children of all ages. CSTL also offers opportunities to dedicate trees, benches and a butterfly garden.

Summer camp info: Ages: 4 to 12. Fees: check website. Specialties: Full-day program at Tanglewood Preserve from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday; hands-on investigations and fun experiments all summer long; also includes activities in art, music, team activities and challenges, special events, and field trips. Camp Teen Venture, Ages: 13-15. Specialities: Traveling camp where each day teenagers discover Long Island's sometimes hidden secrets by going on great field trips. The themes are Marine Exploration, Animal Adventure, and Trek: Long Island. New this year: Techno Trek theme week. Open house: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. March 16.
