Bloomingdale's teams up with designers for high-fashion Super Bowl helmet auction
Who says football and fashion don't mix?
In honor of Super Bowl XLVIII, set to take place at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on Feb. 2, Bloomingdale's and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) are teaming up with the NFL to conduct a designer helmet auction.
The helmets, created by big-name designers like Betsey Johnson, Alice + Olivia, Kenneth Cole, Nicole Miller, Marchesa and more, trade football logos for flowers, animal print and serious bling.
The high-fashion headgear will be on display at Bloomingdale's 59th Street location in NYC starting at 5 p.m. on Jan. 15 through Feb. 4. The designs will also be available to view online.
Bids on the 48 signature helmets will start at $248 and proceeds will go to the NFL Foundation, a nonprofit that supports community health initiatives, including youth football and the NFL Play 60 program.
Bloomingdale's is also getting into the Super Bowl spirit on Long Island. The retailer's Roosevelt Field location will host an event on Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. where shoppers can check out new fashionable NFL gear, get tips on how to plan a killer Super Bowl party and hang in the Super Bowl Lounge.
