National #ShareYourCare day kicks off on Wednesday, Sept. 9, and one NYC student is paying it forward to children in need.

Ten-year-old Zachary Kaplan from Manhattan is gifting Care Bears to four hundred 2- to 4-year-olds in need to commemorate the new school year in honor of #ShareYourCare day. He believes every child should have a stuffed animal they love to sleep with at night, and he is determined to find some way to donate a plush to children whose families can't afford to buy them.

To launch his initiative, Kaplan teamed up with Care Bears and Leake & Watts, a social service agency that provides support to 8,000 at-risk children, adults and families daily in the NYC area.

Kaplan will present Care Bears plush toys and DVDs to 400 children in the Leake & Watts early childhood program.
