A free workshop on how to help a child transition to pre-school, Kindergarten or camp is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 12 at the North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center, 480 Old Westbury Rd., Roslyn Heights.

Three speakers a Dr. Reena Nandi, a child psychiatrist, Vanessa McMullan, a social worker, and Regina Barros, associate executive director of the center a will particpate in a panel presentation followed by a question and answer session.

The panelists will help parents learn how to identify difficulties and offer strategies to help their children. Theyall cover such topics as feeling safe and secure with new adult authority figures and coping with feelings about letting go. For instance, theyall recommend that parents do a lot of research into the camp or school their child will be attending to reduce anxiety and ensure the venue is the right fit, Barros says.
