Every summer, the NBA holds a photo session at the Knicks’ training facility in Westchester for most of the top draft picks.

We were invited to go and meet the players. There were 35 players invited, and we spoke with 13 of them.

We entered the gym filled with NBA rookies, basketballs, photographers and more. We didn’t know where to look first. Some of the rookies shot on an open court, some played basketball video games, others posed for pictures. We could have watched them all day, but we had to get to work.

The players were very busy. We searched for those who were free and asked them the questions we had prepared. It wasn’t all work, though. We got to take pictures with them and get their autographs.
We met players such as Blake Griffin, Stephen Curry, Toney Douglas, Tyler Hansbrough, DeJuan Blair, Hasheem Thabeet, Earl Clark, Taj Gibson, Ty Lawson and many more.

We were really surprised at how nice they were and their willingness to talk to us. We really liked hearing their answers, seeing them shoot around and do cool action shots. We can’t wait to see them play this year.

Jack said he really liked interviewing Hasheem Thabeet (he plays for the Memphis Grizzlies and went to Connecticut) and Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers and the No. 1 pick, he played at Oklahoma) because he think they are going to be the best rookies in the league.

Jack added, “I also liked interviewing James Harden (with Oklahoma City Thunder) because he was so funny.”

Jack said, “A lot of the NBA rookies taught me things like working hard and trying your best, and your dreams can come true. They all were very nice, and I hope they all do well in the NBA. When I grow up, I want to be as tall as Hasheem Thabeet!” He is 7-foot-3.
