Every May, Academy Street Elementary School has a bike safety clinic sponsored by the PTA and local police. When you arrive, the police check your tires to make sure they have enough air to go for a bike ride and they check your bike to see if it is the right size for you. Also, they make sure you have a helmet and that it fits. If you don't have one, or if it doesn't fit, they give you a brand-new clean helmet. For everything police do for you, you get a sticker. There are also courses to ride through and, for every course you complete, you get a sticker. It is a great way to make you feel better about your bike and make you aware of ways you need to be careful when riding.
