Every morning at our school, several courageous students enter the social media room to film the live daily news production. All middle and high school students are then seated in their homerooms to watch the news broadcast. This is the work of the Kellenberg Communications Club, consisting of students in grades six through 12.
These students meet every Friday to sign up for AM and PM announcements, work on their public speaking, and sometimes even have guest speakers. New members are welcome to sign up for PM announcements, which are given with only the podcast of your voice, putting less pressure on the newcomers.
Every student must perform the afternoon announcements at least two times before being given the authority by club moderators to participate in audio and video AM announcements.
Students sit in one of two seats and have a large camera projected directly toward their face. Once a student enters 9th grade they may be chosen to become a producer. These few assist with the daily productions and perform them twice a week.
Performing in front of over 2,000 of their peers, anyone can relate to the burden these students are under.
