Have you ever been to Broadway? If not, no problem at our school. We are trained by some of the most spectacular Broadway professionals. We work with people who have performed on Broadway and for Alvin Ailey Dance and the Metropolitan Opera.

All this works for us when we perform songs from Broadway musicals such as “The Lion King” and “Seussical.” When I found out that I was going to be working with Broadway people, I was scared and nervous because I thought they wouldn’t like my voice. But, after working with them, it was the complete opposite. They liked me for who I was. When I told them that I couldn’t reach a certain note, they helped me in the most cordial way.

I also liked the way they were able to choreograph things. They practice with us and double check everything. They also gave us lots of great advice. Because of these people I am not scared to perform on stage — I am confident. While I was on stage I felt like I was a whole new person and my classmates saw a different side of me. I also learned to work as a team with my classmates to pull off the performance.

Working on our school’s Broadway Revue taught me one great lesson: Always believe in myself and never be afraid to shine!
