Last Friday, we were able to go to the BLI Summer Jam concert at Jones Beach Theater. We were there to work, but we had a lot of fun, too.

We got to interview singer Sabrina Carpenter. We had to wait a while before we were able to go backstage and meet her, so Sabrina gave us free tickets to enjoy her performance. We are glad she did, because she sang some of her most popular songs including, “On Purpose,” “Smoke and Fire,” “Thumbs,” and she even did a cover of Bruno Mars’ song “That’s What I Like,” which we all knew really well.

Before the interview we were a little nervous, because how many times do you get to stand backstage while the show is going on? There was so much equipment back there and so many people hurrying around to keep the show on schedule. As we were getting ready to talk to Sabrina, people brought huge balloon arches backstage. It turned out that the balloons were for Miley Cyrus during her set on stage.

During the interview we realized that Sabrina was really nice and friendly and we had nothing to worry about. We got right to work once we found a quiet place to talk to Sabrina. We asked her if she wanted to succeed in anything different but she said, “No, I want to stay in the same career.”

When she was answering the questions she talked with a lot of facial expression which made us understand her answers more. We could not believe that she just walked off the stage after performing for thousands of fans!

Sabrina said she hoped to act in another Disney movie or show, which would be so awesome! We also asked her what it was like to win the Radio Disney Music Award two years in a row. She said she was not expecting it at all and it was surprising. We asked her if she had a family of celebrities and she said not really, she is the only famous one in her family.

Sabrina is talented as a singer and as an actress since she was very young. We wanted to know what her reaction was when she got the role of Maya Hart in “Girl Meets World.” She said that her mom was driving when she got a call saying she got the role of Maya Hart, and she screamed and said she needed food!

After our interview, we went back to our seats and we watched more of the show. It was so much fun to see the rest of the show.

Sabrina is going out on a tour of her own. It’s called the De-Tour and she is the headline act going all around the country. She is not coming back to Long Island as of now, so we are fortunate we were able to see her. Her new tour is in support of her new album “EVOLution.”
