One of my favorite vacation spots is St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. My family and I have visited this exotic island twice and have stayed at the Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort each time. The island's natural beauty is apparent as soon as you arrive. Swaying palm trees, multicolored flowers and birds fill the landscape. The white sandy beach with crystal clear water was where we spent most of our trip. The waves proved to be the perfect size for boogie boarding, surfing, or simply swimming around. My parents and grandparents preferred to simply rest on the beach.

In addition to the beach, St. Thomas hosts many exhilarating excursions. My family and I had the opportunity to sign up for day trips such as boating, parasailing and snorkeling, my favorite. A large catamaran took us and about 50 other hotel guests to Turtle Cove for a snorkeling adventure. Turtle Cove is named for the many juvenile turtles it harbors, and it also has a small coral reef filled with colorful fish. Several tour guides accompanied us while we snorkeled so that they could point out turtles and teach us about the different types of tropical fish. Observing the simplicity of life underwater felt very calming to me, and I could tell everyone else felt at peace too. St. Thomas is a great place to visit, and I cannot wait to go there again.
