My family decided to sign up for a foreign exchange student program connected to Saint Anthony's High School. When my parents went to the meeting, we were assigned two girls, one from China named Lana, and one from Vietnam, Linh. They will be attending Saint Anthony's for the rest of the year and next year as well. The first day they arrived we took them to a cheerleading competition and they were amazed -- they had never seen anything like it. They will go back to their home country for the summer, and hopefully will want to return for the next school year.

I have learned so much about the different cultures. They eat very differentfoods than most Americans. They have experimented eating various kinds of American food that they have never tried before. They know very little English, but my family and I are working on teaching them the American culture.

Opening my house to foreign exchange students has been a great experience for my family and me, and hopefully we will continue doing it for years to come. Because my two older sisters are now out of the house, we had some extra room for the exchange students, and my sister and I like helping our new friends.

Both girls go to St. Anthony's High School during the school year. Do you think your family might be interested in this great program? If so, email international@sahsutp.com for more information.
