Pentatonix is a five-member a cappella group. The group started with three friends, Kristie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, and Scott Hoying. They started at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas. They were hosting a local radio competition show to get on the cast of "Glee." They made a trio version of "Telephone" and sent it in. Even though they did not win the competition, they started getting more attention in school. The three of them joined the final school choir concert of the year. When their version of "Telephone" was posted on YouTube it started getting a lot of views. A while after, they got the opportunity to audition in the TV show, "The Sing-Off". They added two more amazing performers to join the group named Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola. That is when they became Pentatonix.
All of them started getting to be really close friends. Pentatonix loves creating music that is a mixture of dubstep, pop, electro and hip-hop. They put their own dance/upbeat spin into the music. In 2014, Pentatonix sang at the Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center. They all love being on this inspiring journey. They will be at Radio City Music Hall this July. Pentatonix has inspired a lot of people.
