Formerly the Atlantis Marine World, the full-scale aquarium and Exhibition Center featuring a large all-living coral reef display, a 120,000-gallon shark tank, year-round sea lion shows, numerous touch tanks, and more than 100 exhibits and interactive experiences, including Shark Dive, Pirate Snorkel Adventure, Atlantis Explorer Tour Boat, and Sea Lion Kiss.

Aquatic animals of all sorts live in freshwater and saltwater tanks. The aquarium has multiple touch pools -- including the "ray bay," where the stingrays swim up to the edge of the pool for petting and feeding. There are daily sea lion shows and other special experiences that range from diving with sharks to snorkeling with fish to training animals (extra fees apply).

Long Island Exhibition Center's first exhibit is Butterflies & Birds! Flying for a limited engagement.

Summer camp info: The Adventure Days camp program adds interactive excitement to summer vacation. Children ages: 2-16. Fees: Call for rates. Specialties: Full-, half-day and weekly programs; Explore the wonders of the marine environment through age-appropriate learning and activities. Crafts, close-up encounters with marine creatures and interact with the hidden treasures of the sea, set sail on the Atlantis Explorer Tour Boat and see animals in their natural habitats and more. Open houses: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 16-20 educators will be on hand to give you all the details.


Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Season: Year-round
