Mom-mentum (formerly National Association of Mothers’ Centers) will host its Miles for Mothers 5K run/walk and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, May 7, on the boardwalk in Long Beach.

The event commemorates the organization’s 40-year history of honoring the work moms do inside and out of the home.

By participating in this family-friendly event, runners, walkers and kids are given the opportunity to honor a mother or many mothers and fundraise for Mom-mentum to maintain the programming and services they provide to support mothers personally, professionally and through public policy. Women, men, mothers, fathers and children of all ages and at any athletic level — from beginners to avid runners — are welcome.

There will be prizes, raffles, family entertainment and music provided by Long Beach’s DJ Chef, champion of “Cutthroat Kitchen” on the Food Network. The morning will start with a pre-race warm up by Fusion Health and Fitness and a singing of the national anthem by Long Beach High School senior Sarah Murphy.
