Splash parks for kids on Long Island
Oh, baby, it's hot outside, and the best way to cool off during the dog days of summer is to get wet.
Sure, there are plenty of pools and beaches around Long Island, but they're not always fit for the little ones.
The solution? Take them to one of the many sprinkler and spray parks in Nassau and Suffolk. Better yet, check out one of the many waterslides around Long Island.
Here, we show you where to find the right amount of water to keep kids cool without going in over their heads.

Where: Granada Parkway off Montauk Highway, Lindenhurst; 631-893-2100
What you'll find: At Venetian Shores, you'll find a large Interactive spray park with a mushroom fountain, overhead dump buckets, water sprayers and more.
Bay Park(Credit: Bay Park)
Where: Marjorie Lane, East Rockaway; 516-571-7245
What you'll find: Bay Park features a large playground that includes a spray pool. The free sprinkler playground includes three settings and a center console that sprays water out of nozzles. Water also shoots up from the ground and sprinkles out of the wall.

Where: 100 Clark St., Long Beach; 516-431-3890
What you'll find: The free sprinklers and splash park area on Clark Street includes water arches that kids can run through or underneath. Water sprays up from the ground; there's also a spider climber made of rope, and showers that feature water raining down on kids. The park also includes a playground, rope-climbing station and more.
Other Long Beach splash parks: Leroy Conyers Park on Park Place and Georgia Park on the corner of Georgia Avenue and West Beach Street.

Where: Hempstead Turnpike and Merrick Avenue, East Meadow; 516-572-0348
What you'll find: In Field 2 at Eisenhower Park, you'll find three playground areas -- the largest includes a free splash pool. There is also a large sprinkler ring with multiple spray heads but no play equipment. Hours vary from day to day.

What you'll find: At Cantiague Park, there is an interactive water play area featuring a jungle gym with sprinklers that shoot water up from the ground. There's also a pool with two large water slides and a kiddie pool.
Blumenfeld Family Park
Where: Main Street, Port Washington; 516-869-6311
What you'll find: The free splash area for kids is located at the back of Blumenfeld Family Park. The water is user-controlled, with large buttons that kids can push to turn the water on. Three fountains go off in a timed pattern that lets kids run around and chase the water. There's also a mushroom waterfall and dump buckets. The park includes swings, monkey bars, slides and more.

What you'll find: At Splish Splash water park, you'll find 20 waterslides as well as the first water roller coaster in New York, a kiddie area, wave pool, lazy river and much more.
Geiger Lake Memorial Park(Credit: Chris Ware)
Where: Grand Boulevard, Wyandanch; 631-957-3000
What you'll find: The Geiger Lake splash park features a Tree of Life theme with 25 different play elements, including a bridge, three water slides, water cannons, a rope-climb net, bucket water dumps, a large spider and a snake water play set with several spiraling slides. There's also a water play area for smaller children.

What you'll find: Grant Park features three playgrounds based on different ages: 1 to 3, 4 to 8 and 9 to 12. The free spray pool area is on a large concrete pad; water shoes recommended.

What you'll find: The splash park at Hoyt Farm Park Preserve is for Smithtown residents only and features water arches for kids to run under, and overhead dump buckets.

What you'll find: At Phelps Lane, you'll find a swimming pool, water slide and an interactive spray pool featuring overhead dump buckets, water guns, a rope bridge and a children's pool

What you'll find: There are multiple playgrounds for different age groups at North Woodmere Park. The large pool area features a water slide, diving pool, wading pool, training pool and an interactive sprinkler play area for kids.

Where: Bay Shore Marina, South Clinton Avenue, Bay Shore; 631-224-5413
What you'll find: Shipwreck Cove features a large spray park with water slides, overhead dump buckets, a climbing area with water sprayers, a zero-depth entry pool so small children can play, plus a small beach with a dock and restaurant.

What you'll find: There's a small interactive splash park at Tanner Park with a round tree waterfall, a miniature water slide and several water sprouts coming up from the ground. There's a playground with slides, a climbing gym with ropes and pipes.

What you'll find: There's an Olympic-sized main pool, a diving pool, a children's pool, a training pool, an interactive water-play area and two waterslides. There's also a large playground with swings, slides, a maze and more.

What you'll find: Tobay Beach features an interactive sprinkler park with water arches, water guns and water fountains that spray up from the ground. Bonus: Some parts are covered and out of the sun.
