For the second year in a row, Talbots is drawing women to their jazzy Web site with a funny little Valentine’s Day contest called, “Worst Valentine’s Gift You Have Ever Received.”

Entrants provide anecdotes about their worst gifts – some ridiculously horrible and kind of a riot.

One woman received a snow shovel wrapped with a big red bow, another got the always romantic burial plot and one was less than thrilled by the meat slicer from her now ex-husband.

There were Viking helmets, that confidence -building bathroom scale and, ugh, a nose hair trimmer.

Last year’s winner was, let us say, a tad disappointed, by the toddler-sized undies her sweetheart gave her, and she didn’t even have kids.

What do you get for sharing your rant?

One lucky winner receives a weekend in Manhattan for herself and four friends (the caveat is that you have to live within 180-mile radius) and a $500 shopping spree at Talbots. Twenty runners-up will each get a $250 Talbots gift card.

And almost as good, the whole thing makes you appreciate the unimaginative but sweet candy and flowers you’ve always gotten all the more.  To enter (contest runs from now through Feb. 14) go to www.talbots.com/valentines.   (Click here to connect.)

While you're venting at Talbots.com, take a look at this sweet scarf. (Undated, Handout)
