Alan Cumming is feeling guilty. "I missed my deadline," he says.

Cumming was checking out Cynthia Rowley's spring collection at the High Line Hotel Saturday evening. (Designers typically invite random celebs for publicity value, but in this case, the two are genuine friends.)

As for that deadline? It's for his memoir, to be published by HarperCollins next year -- um, once he finishes writing it.

In his defense, the man's been busy. Last spring, the Scottish actor starred on Broadway in an exhausting one-man "Macbeth." Then, this summer, he's been shooting "The Good Wife" (sorry, no secrets revealed), and next spring he returns to Broadway, reprising his acclaimed performance as the emcee in "Cabaret" at Studio 54.

That leaves this fall -- and he's determined to finish. The book is inspired by his appearance on BBC's genealogy show "Who Do You Think You Are?" which uncovered a fact he hadn't known -- his grandfather died in Malaysia playing Russian roulette.
