Hollywood hottie Kate Hudson is known for lighting up a room with her megawatt smile (perhaps inherited from mom, Goldie Hawn) and great style.  And now, the Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee, has a new role and another thing to grin about.

The 31-year-old actress is the new global ambassador for makeup brand Almay.   As the new face of the brand, (parent company is Revlon, Inc.) she’ll star in global multimedia campaigns that include TV, print, in-store and Internet placements that are to debut later this year.

Revlon chief executive officer, Alan T. Ennis, said, in a statement, "We are thrilled to welcome Kate to the Almay family.  She is smart, confident and vivacious.  Her energy and youthful spirit are contagious."

Additionally, the actress, who until now has had limited ties to beauty endorsements, will participate in various company-sponsored philanthropic and fund-raising events.

In fact, Thursday night (May 13)  she reps the brand at the Almay Rainforest Concert at Carnegie Hall which raises awareness and money for the world's rainforests.

In a statement, Hudson said, ““Almay is known for its fresh, effortless approach to beauty.  I share that philosophy and I’m honored to be partnering with a brand that believes cosmetics should bring out the natural beauty inside every woman.  At the end of the day we all want to have fun and feel beautiful – that’s what Almay is all about.”

And speaking of fun, while Women’s Wear Daily reports that Revlon would not comment on the value of the multi-year contract, similar deals are estimated to beworth between $1 million and $3 million.  Hudson can giggle all the way to the bank.
