Between the limo, the dress, the tickets, and a trip to the salon, prom costs can really stack up before you hit the dance floor.

That's why Port Washington resident Jen Forman created Charlotte's Closet, a new site where users can rent prom dresses for up to 75 percent off the price of actually buying.

“The important thing for our customers is the experience of wearing a beautiful dress and feeling like a princess, not necessarily owning the dress,” explained Forman.

Customers can head to charlottes-closet.com and browse a selection of dresses, from floor-length gowns to short and sassy frocks. Once prom-goers find the one they want, the site will ship two different sizes to ensure a good fit.

When prom is over, simply ship it back (no need to dry clean).

Prices start as low as $26.
