In 1992, cosmetic giant Evelyn H. Lauder teamed with Self magazine to create the pink ribbon campaign, an effort to take on breast cancer by raising funds and awareness. The color of the ribbon has deepened over the years (from very pale pink to a hotter shade), along with the movement.
