Luxury shoe designer Ruthie Davis made an appearance at Bloomingdale’s flagship store in Manhattan Friday to celebrate the launch of her spring collection, now carried at Bloomingdale's stores.

Davis, whose shoes have been worn by the likes of Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Penelope Cruz, had her star-studded client list in mind when designing her spring line.

"This collection is about a super glam, gorgeous Stepford Wife on a vacation in Saint Tropez,” Davis said.

She explained the shoes are both minimal and extravagant and touched on how being a woman makes her the perfect candidate to design shoes.

“As a woman, I know all the tricks with how to make a girl look amazing,” she said.

Indeed, in a field where men ironically dominate – consider the prominence of Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik – Ruthie Davis understands from a woman’s point of view how the shape and line of a shoe change the woman wearing it.

For spring, Davis suggests that women invest in beautiful pastel shoes that are less Easter and more fresh and exciting than years past. From her line, she suggests a regal plum shoe adorned with spikes and a gilded platform as a timeless investment: “It is a chic, after-work shoe that works well with everything.”

As for a shoe don’t, Davis despises 3-inch and kitten heels and advocates for either  5- or 6-inch styles or a shoe with no heel whatsoever. As she puts it, “go big or go home.”
