Alice + Olivia takes a walk down fantasy lane
Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet was strolling the streets of Paris in September when two glamorous women walked by and inspired her Fall 2013 collection.
"This collection is fantasy street style," Bendet said, dressed in a floor-length red gown with black overlay, matching red roses in her hair. "It's making the ordinary extraordinary."
Bendet played with proportions and textures, mixing oversized coats with miniskirts and layering fur over leather and chunky knits over tulle. Brocade patterns, floral prints, lace and metallics added even more richness to jewel tones of ruby, sapphire and topaz.
Bendet continues to have fun with accessories, sticking a fashionista's sunglass and lipstick-clad face on heels and a zebra on a handbag.
Backstage before the show, Morrocanoil hair stylists, Stila makeup artists and NCLA nail pros worked hard to bring Bendet's fantasy to life.
Morrocanoil artistic director Antonio Corral Calero dreamt up a romantic, loose chignon with braids, and a team put together crowns of red roses to compliment some of the standout looks. NCLA designed a black and white nail wrap just for the collection that will be sold in Alice + Olivia stores and Stila created a bold, red lip.
"It's feminine and fun and girly," "Django Unchained" actress and former model Nichole Galicia said of the looks. "What's not to like?"
