The Anna Sui girl of seasons past — dressed in sweet and perky-print babydolls and prairie skirts — has got a bit of a ‘tude this season. Punk rock comes into play in a big way for this collection, from head (pink and turquoise hair) to toe (ripped fishnet stockings). Of course, this is Sui . . . so what could be dark or harsh is still playful and light.

Her standard print-mixing is there —  leaf- and berry-print jumpsuit over a leopard-print bra; a tweed/denim/brocade jacket over a palm-print and mesh tunic and shorts; not to mention prints of lilies, wreaths, black-eyed Susans, Victorian cabbages, “warped” pansies and massive silver sunflowers.

Tulle petticoats supported flowing skirts and dresses, and leather had real impact — we loved the denim with quilted leather patches worn with a cream embroidered-tulle tunic (very Victorian, if not for the fishnet tee underneath); or the black leather studded motorcycle jacket worn with a patchworked tunic and gray fishnets.

The shoes — Ballin for Anna Sui — alternated between chunky platforms with studded straps, and patent pumps with ankle straps. And, of course, there were those hats — kind of Catwoman-inspired, with the little pointy ears, worn jauntily at an angle. We won’t fault you if you leave the hat at home.
