Jill Stuart’s English party girls
Jill Stuart had English party girls on her mind at her show at the tents at Lincoln Center Saturday morning. We’re not talking debauched partiers, but aristocratic types who throw on a ritzy, little black dress of open cut lace, or a lacy short with a white, sheer man-tailored shirt for cocktails at the castle.
Proper little ties at the neck conveyed a formality, but the dress-centric collection – mostly black – was as sexy as it was crisp. Several looks featured metallic gold patterns, others had cut flower petals to create texture, and peplums added a sculptural touch.
Add to the mix a multicolor floral number trimmed in velvet – not an English garden variety but tougher – along with awning striped frocks and one brilliant red lacy job worn with matching red shoes. Standout. Party on, dahhhling.
