Jill Stuart visits the boudoir
With a color story as soft as a whisper, Jill Stuart conjured old-time Hollywood and easy glam with her seductive and feminine lingerie-inspired collection shown at the Lincoln Center tents on Saturday.
Here, there were delicate white lace dresses with leafy patterns, some with high ruffled necks and flower appliqués. A black tuxedo jacket topped tap pants with lace insets — a pretty sultry ensemble — and a platinum pajama set featured wide legs and a smoking jacket that tied at the waist.
Then came a series of dancerly evening dresses, and a hip Ultrasuede apricot bed jacket worn over a gown of the same shade that looked extremely modern yet classic.
Less sugary, but very good: a smart, streamlined jumpsuit in oyster-colored cotton and a trench coat done up in an airy basket weave.
