Levi's 1st ever global collection
A fashion show…for Levi’s. Seems like an oxymoron, no? After all, isn’t Levi’s sort of…beyond fashion?
Levi’s, the brand , as we all know, is an icon here in the U.S.—or like oxygen, just something we breathe in without thinking. Doesn’t almost everyone have at least one pair (or 15) in their closet?
Icon or no, Levi’s needs to stay relevant, and so the brand organized a fashion show of men’s and women’s looks for its first ever “global collection” at an event space in SoHo. A banjo player serenaded as models hit the runway in all forms of denim, including the revamped Bootcut Skinny, which has, according to the program, "customized tencel godets." (Yeah, had to look that up—“godets,” pronounced “go-DAYS,” are pieces of material inserted in jeans or another item to make them flare.) The skinny jeans are the key item for Fall 2012, and looked great with a coated indigo tencel dress shirt and rinsed, one-button denim blazer.
Other fun looks included an indigo tencel tux shirt (worn with tailored flares), or gypsy print leggings (with a crisp white French button-down). They look as comfy as a pair of 501s, but new and on-trend. The perfect combination.
