Nicole Miller: Spaced Out
Nicole Miller has been toying with the “good girl meets bad girl” theme for a few seasons now, and for Spring 2013, she nailed it.
Inspired by the ‘80s surrealist art movement, program notes called the collection, which showed at the tents at Lincoln Center Friday night, “The juxtaposition of improbable things.” This translated into looks that balanced pretty with gritty such as a cobalt leather skirt topped by a femme beaded crop, or stunning floral abstract tunic (gorgeous!!) floating above black stretch leather leggings. In one case, a girly peplum on a jacket zipped off, turning the piece into a bomber.
The whole vibe was techno-chic with a bit of rock and roll thrown in for good measure. Miller’s famously fabulous prints included futuristic florals, graphic digital designs and a swirling galaxy pattern featuring planets and spaceships. Beam us up!
