Peter Som’s show early Friday morning at the downtown Milk Studios had an obvious ambition: fill the closets of a certain type of woman  — fashionable, fun-loving –- with the need and budget for expensive clothes for every occasion.

Models with messy, upswept Brigitte Bardot hair wore fur in unconventional ways  —  a navy wool twill featured giant black fox sleeves —  more subtle, a khaki mink-lined twill parka (to keep you warm, and PETA at bay).

While Som doled out fur in eccentric dribs and drabs, he went to town with sequins  —  pants coated in pewter looked liquid, a cobalt sequin jersey floor-length number could work as easily at the society ball as it could on the red carpet.

There was lots of eyelet lace, brightly colored suits  —  orange and fuchsia –- with exaggerated hourglass-shaped jackets, slim pants that hit the hips, and stunning tone-on-tone floral patterns. A body-skimming georgette dress in a winter floral of navy, red, black and white was topped by a matching floral-lined navy reefer … fab.

Fashionista front row included Tommy Hilfiger for whom Som consults. Bet he was thinking, “Nice work.”
