Rebecca Taylor: Hawaiian fantasy

Dreaming of a Hawaiian vacay but stuck in the city? Rebecca Taylor’s spring 2013 collection will solve the dilemma. With its perfect balance of hard and soft — a denim vest over an ivory Hawaiian floral-studded collar dress — a turquoise leather moto vest over a bralette — Taylor’s polished collection is the solution for the urbanite with far-flung fantasies.

The designer didn’t go for a cliché Hawaii — no grass skirts — but her washed-out florals and soft bleached colors combined with fitted tweeds, lightweight leathers and a touch of bejeweling are the stuff women will be swooning for come spring. So easy, cool and deceptively simple, like a coral hibiscus print T-shirt dress with a long zipper down the back.

Front-rower “Smash” star Katharine McPhee was not granting interviews at the show; however, her face said it all as she watched the runway parade — and we're guessing she was thinking what we were thinking: stellar. And we want it. Aloha.
