Sirens at Peter Som
Just how great do women feel in Peter Som’s quirky, luxe and extremely pretty clothes? Just ask ‘em. We did at Som’s early morning show at Made Fashion Week at the Milk Studios, where, among others, Allison Williams, star of the HBO hit series “Girls,” was turned out in a fall number that hit all the trends – oxblood, check; leather, check. “I’m a huge fan, and this is amazing,” she said of her outfit. “Do you like it?” she asked. Love it, we assured the perfect muse. Likewise Hailee Steinfeld, star of “True Grit,” felt “very special” in her emerald lace sheath, she said, and looked all grown up.
For spring 2013, the specialness continues with easy, long, loose shorts and watercolor floral denim skirts and pants, part of the collaboration Som has with Earnest Sewn Jeans. Man-tailored shirts amped up with vintage-looking jewels on the collar looked swell with everything. Other high notes included a selection of dresses with a wider, mod silhouette in an abstract floral print.
Som embraced color big time with shades that ran the gamut from soft (mint, pale blue, pink) to all-out vivid (orange, indigo, chartreuse). That story ran to skins – as in boldly colored multi-patchwork snakeskin pieces – dresses, skirts, a coat – for all those sexy, slithery Som sirens.
