Jenny Packham: 'Rat Pack Mascots'

Jenny Packham, the Brit designer favored by a certain pair of regal sisters (Duchess Kate and her sib, Pippa Middleton), has Vegas on the brain. Now, we often hear about the infamous Rat Pack — Frank, Sammy, Deano and the rest — but less often do we hear about their female counterparts, a group of Hollywood babes known as the “Rat Pack Mascots.”
The group included Shirley MacLaine and...

Vera Wang knows: India is seductive. Anyone who’s been there will tell you, there is an intoxicating quality that helps you to see past all that overcrowding, heat and poverty. The Brits were so captivated by the place, they stuck around as a colonial power way longer than they should have.
Wang explores this appeal with a subtle collection that melds colonial grandeur and local beauty. White...

Perhaps the last thing you expect to see at an Oscar de la Renta runway is rubberized clothing – latex actually – but it was the first. A red latex tank, with a navy wool blazer and ivory pencil skirt – zoomed out onto de la Renta’s runway (Karlie Kloss wearing it). Youthful, fun (for goodness sakes, the models had neon streaks in their beehives!!) and supremely chic it heralded a beautiful, relevant...

Betsey Johnson's birthday was not your grandmother's 70th birthday party.
There was Cyndi Lauper rocking out on stage; there was a baby pig on the runway; there was the birthday girl doing her signature cartwheels and splits on the runway, and there was lots and lots of pink glitter.
The over-the-top designer filed for bankruptcy this year and closed her retail stores, but nothing could...

Elie Tahari describes his spring 2013 collection, presented vignette-style in his showroom on Tuesday, as “a cocktail party at a Richard Neutra home in Palm Springs during the 1950s.”
From the looks of things, this party must have been a blast. Ripe with gorgeous California cool colors that bode well for spring, such as melon, lime, coral, palm and pink, Tahari's collection mainly stuck to...

The wow factor at Naeem Khan was, simply put, over the top. Expected here are blinged out dresses and gowns with an Indian flavor. Khan wardrobes celebs and is a favorite of Michelle Obama, who has donned his confections for state dinners.
So, in a novel twist, he put out … daywear … beautifully tailored separates and dresses, some with big palm frond graphics. Better even was the navy and...

Tory Burch says her muse is a stylish magpie who picks special pieces while traveling around the world and mixes them with classic sportswear.
In the first part of her show at Avery Fisher Hall, this translated to big, graphic wheat prints in mustard and brown backed by white shown on dresses, shorts and shirts. Somebody ate their Wheaties …even the models’ hair had wheat-stalk like hair extensions....

Backstage at the Badgley Mischka show held at the tents on Tuesday, Mark Badgley said, “We were inspired by the 1935 film version of ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream.’ It was black and white, and our colors are the way we thought it should be.”
Indeed, the dreamy runway and its soft palette of blush, ivory, lilac (one of the prettiest gowns we’ve seen this season turned out in this shade) conjured...

It was one heck of a party at the alice + olivia show, which was set up in vignettes at a downtown space Monday night. Designer Stacy Bendet (who herself regularly graces best-dressed lists) was inspired by the optimistic Fifties, and the clothes were happy, peppy and bursting with fun, as was the scene. The cocktails with orchids encased in giant ice cubes seemed to have loosened up the crowd.
Bendet...

Few things are certain in life, but this is probably a safe bet — the former band members of The White Stripes are going to love Marc Jacobs’ spring line.
Mr. #HottestTicketInTown might’ve saved himself a good deal of time and money, if he had the inclination to do so, by skipping the whole rigmarole of a runway show and instead just going to the mountaintop (be it the observation deck...
